AHP, begun in 1962 as a new force in psychology to counteract reductionism and psychoanalysis, emphasizes wholistic, person-centered therapy, exploration and realization of individual potential, and conscious and community efforts to expand human knowledge and build a more humane world. Members practice humanistically in many healthcare, education, business, and creative arts professions.
